About Ian Tasker

People who do business on executive jets occasionally feel they have lost their humanity and want to reclaim it. I worked at the bleeding edge of the IT industry for nearly two decades and felt like an arrogant, empty shell who just so happened to be earning obscene fees. I was a human doing, no longer a human being. My quest to climb to the top cost me two marriages, and I lost five children in the bargain. When my health finally crashed, I had to reinvent myself, becoming an affirmational poet, a glorified storyteller. I am however a historian of twentieth-century astronomy with the segue that my research has found application in the twenty-first-century executive jet charter sector. I am now on speaking terms with both ex-wives and have all my children back in my life, along with five grandsons, whom I have started taking to air shows and observing nights with my telescopes due to being clean and sober for the last seventeen years. Recently, a colleague shared that “how you buy is how you sell” and asked me,"Would I buy what I am selling?” I began laughing out loud because examining my ethics reconnected me with humanity, and establishing long-term relationships has become much more important than the narrow focus of making a single sale, which is a hoot as word-of-mouth outstrips any other form of prospecting. I no longer wear business suits but am more comfortable in my Harris Tweed sports jacket and waistcoat, which has a landed gentry sensibility that indiscriminately commands compliance. It is the women at air shows on the trade days who know the finer things in life and compliment my attire that stroke’s my confidence in these opulent settings onboard executive jets where multi-figure deals casually abound.
