Prior to the work dispatches for, Ironworkers local 771 in Saskatchewan I as a Member of Ironworkers local 643 in Victoria BC worked for Victoria Shipyards, Canadian Maritime Engineering, Versatile Pacific, Yarrows and DND as a Ship and Navy yard Rigger going back until early 80's. I took this work on a seasonal basis as I operated a commercial fishing vessel for 29 seasons and spent 6 seasons as a Deckhand on the FV Valiant Lady prior to purchasing my own vessel, my fishing experience started as a summer job at age 14 and was my primary income for 35 seasons with the shipyard work a nice filler to assist in feeding my family. Now as I have now recieved NCSO certification as of October31 2016,hopefully I will get more Safety related work but will continue to accept dispatches as an Ironworker as I am funding my grandaughters education/living expenses while she attends Mckendree university in Lebanon Illinois on a hockey scholorship, if it were not for me doing that I would be happily retired and travelling the world with camera in hand which I will do when she graduates in 3 1/2 years.
