I have worked on a wide range of coastal and marine studies in the UK and overseas, including: • the marine design aspects and environmental impacts of a range of port developments; • developing design concepts for intertidal habitat creation and restoration; • Public Inquiries related to ports and offshore renewables; • framing and subsequently playing a leading role in the UK estuary research programme; • piloting risk methods for coastal flooding at a national scale for the insurance industry; and • a regional scale study of the east coast of England that helped frame the subsequent development of Shoreline Management Plans. Much of my research has focussed on the morphology and associated habitats of coasts and estuaries, and in particular the dynamic response to change
