About Ian Utz

I am currently majoring in Mathematics and Computer Science with a minor in Music at Ursinus College, class of 2024. I am high power certified for model rocketry, an active member in the National Association of Rocketry as well as the Dallas Area Rocket Society. I graduated high school with a 4.19 weighted GPA and am currently holding a 3.91 unweighted GPA at Ursinus College. I qualified for Nationals for the Team America Rocketry Challenge in 2018, where we were assigned to build a model rocket from scratch, have it carry a raw egg up to a certain altitude, and have it land within a certain time interval. I have been a Barista for Starbucks since 2018, and have received Partner of the Quarter, as well as the title Barista Trainer. In my schooling, I have done research on biomedical wearable technology, as well as studied Neural Networking and Machine Learning algorithms and applied them to RFID interrogation. I have also volunteered for Drone Flight Events with the CSTA and Avon Grove High School, helping teach younger kids how to use simple programming languages such as Scratch to program a drone to fly a certain direction for a certain time interval. In my free time, I have also learned how to produce music with a Digital Audio Workstation, and understood methods of sequencing, processing, and frequency blending.
