Background

About Ian Vallecillo

I am an experienced Public Sector Leader with over 11 years of expertise in grant writing and management across both public and private sectors. Currently, I serve as an elected City of Sweetwater Commissioner, where I am dedicated to enhancing the community through strategic governance and development. Previously, as the City’s Grants Administrator, I secured $12 million in federal, state, and local grant funds and revamped the City’s grants management system. I implemented best practices, organized and updated all grant records, resolved audit findings, and ensured compliance with reporting requirements—restoring proper oversight and maximizing the City’s funding potential. In addition to my role in grants, I took on responsibilities such as Emergency Manager during hurricanes and the COVID-19 pandemic, procurement oversight, economic development initiatives, and strategic planning. I also have experience in the Electric Vehicle (EV) charging industry, working on projects that promote sustainable infrastructure. Through my consulting firm, I have written and won infrastructure, beautification, and park grants for multiple cities across Miami-Dade County. My portfolio also includes non-profit grant writing and management. Having worked in government, corporate America, and the non-profit sector, I bring a diverse and well-rounded perspective to every project I undertake, always aiming to drive meaningful impact.
