About Ian Vanderbeek

Ian is a seasoned management professional with over four decades of experience across the transport, agriculture and logistic sectors, including deep experience as a Director, MD or CEO. He has held aviation regulatory Accountable Manager approvals in both the UK and Australia. With deep international business experience and connections, Ian is highly skilled in developing and nurturing key industry relationships. His hands-on experience in Australia, USA, Europe, the Pacific and Asia complement Ian's board experience at government, listed and private company level. As an experienced change manager and strategic thinker, Ian has developed advanced analytical and problem solving skills and has a proven track record of meeting strict service delivery targets. Advanced communication and interpersonal skills round out his leadership ability. He has sound skills in building, coaching and working alongside diverse teams and is decisive, trustworthy and honest. Ian is particularly adept at working with organisations with tight margins and cash flow with a focus on improving total shareholder return. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and regularly attends AICD courses and events to ensure that his governance knowledge and director skills remain relevant and contemporary. Ian is an Independent Director of aeromedical organisation CareFlight Limited, TasRail, Tasmania's trusted provider of safe and dependable rail logistics solutions, and Metro Tasmania, the largest Tasmanian owned passenger transport provider. He is a previous director of Brisbane based specialist helicopter company Aviator Group (now Auriga Helicopters). Additionally, Ian continues his industry management involvement as a consultant to small and medium SME's in the transport, agriculture and logistic sectors when not involved in the running of a beef breeding enterprise in Northern Tasmania.
