About Ibrahim Sabir

Hi, My name is Ibrahim M. Sabir (They/Them/He), I am a graduate of Temple Univeristy school of Public Health. My academic interests include epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, creative writing and research with a focus on mental health care. My personal interests include cartoons, fantasy/sci-fi of various medias, operas, and orchestras. As long as I can remember, I’ve always have had a predilection towards understanding diseases and community and population health. I’ve always volunteered from a young age for several of my mother’s non-profits. With the focuses varying from community health, women abuse resources, family planning, housing insecurity, and access to care. My initial goals were to become a Nurse Practitioner, but the start of this educational path I quickly realized that I don’t want to work in health care at the Tertiary prevention level. I wanted to focus on and provide primary prevention. I frequently use the metaphor of “Wanting to fire-proof the house instead of calling the fire department” to describe these feelings to others. My current career goals are to pass my MCHES exams, and earn my MPH and Ph.D in Biostatistics and Epidemiology. I want to work in research, with a focus on mental health and community based interventions for underserved populations across the US.
