About Idalina Orta

Experienced Educational Specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the education management industry. Strong education professional skilled in K-12 Education, Elementary Education, Staff Development, Educational Leadership, and Classroom Management. I have over 26 years of experience in the teaching profession. I began my career in education as a Miami-Dade County Charter school substitute English teacher, working with Alternative Education students in grades 6-12. I remained with the Charter for 3 ½ years teaching subjects such as Biology, Intro to Computers, Language Arts, ESOL and Newspaper/Yearbook Editing. I Transitioned to a Miami-Dade Public School which is the 4th largest school district in the Nation teaching grades Third, Kindergarten and later Head Start Pre-K 3-4 for a total of 8 years. In 2004, I transferred to a Broward County Public School, which is the 6th largest school district in the Nation. In addition to my role as a Head Start Pre-K 3-4, Kindergarten, First, and Second-grade teacher. I had many other responsibilities including K-5 ESOL Support Staff, Head Start Educational Specialist, Dual Language/Innovative Program Coordinator/Liaison, Team Leader, Intern Coordinator-responsible for creating the school’s professional learning community groups; Clinical Educator/Cooperating Teacher-working with college/university staff and students to coordinate on-the-job “field experiences” for pre-professional education students. In 2016, I was appointed to my current Administrative position as Dual Language Educational Specialist for The Bilingual/ESOL Department. My duties include but are not limited to program implementation, curriculum development, materials review, teacher training and supervision of Instructional Facilitators and presenting in National Conferences on the Expansion and Results of our Dual Language Program.
