About Iga Samulewska

In 2016 I have graduated from Technical School in Kołobrzeg (Poland) with Technical Diploma in Navigation. Then I've started my studies at the Maritime University of Szczecin (Poland) and graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science Degree, speciality in Marine Traffic Engineering. During my education, I've worked as a Deck Cadet and Ordinary Seaman on vessels such as ro-pax ferries, sailing ships, bulk carriers and tugs. I now hold a certificate of an Officer in charge of a Navigational Watch on ships of 500 gross tonnage and more. I've also received a promotion for the Third Officer's position on my last contract on bulk carrier. I'm experienced mostly in deck work, such as rust chipping, greasing, painting and other ship's maintenance activities. I've also sailed through the Great Lakes, where I steered the vessel, prepared the pilot ladder and reported distance from the lock's fenders. In my free time, I've practiced the duties belonging to the Third Officer, took part in bridge watches, and learned the maintenance of the vessel's equipment and documents. During cargo operations on a bulk carrier, I've operated the hatch covers and carried out the gangway watch. I've also taken part in presenting the vessel for future buyers. On Ro-Pax vessels, I've lashed the cars and lorries, carried out bridge watches, and did the deck work. My career path has changed due to moving. Since 2022 I've been working as a Bike Mechanic and recently Training & Quality Bike Mechanic at Swapfiets Amsterdam.
