About Ignacio Ortega

With a passion for building and hard work, I am pursuing a master's degree in architecture and a minor in environmental sustainability at Drury University. I have been awarded the Professional Promise Scholarship for my engagement in the profession and community, and I have completed a summer internship at BRR Architecture, where I gained valuable skills in document review and Revit. I also balance my studies with a part-time job as a sanitation worker at Schreiber Foods, where I ensure the cleanliness and safety of the production facilities. This role has taught me how to work with a variety of tools, measure properly, and communicate effectively with different people. I have also learned from my uncles, who are involved in construction, how to understand and evaluate work on site. These experiences have given me a solid foundation for working with others in the architecture field, as it requires consideration, communication, and compromise. My goal is to be part of a great change in bringing equity through architecture, by challenging the existing infrastructure and creating innovative and sustainable solutions. I am eager to learn from and contribute to the architecture profession, and to use my skills and background to make a positive impact on the environment and society.
