About Ignacio Tolstoy

I have been programming since I was 11 years old. It all started doing some batch scripts. Then I tasted the great feeling of building something that was used by others, I did a snake game only using batch! It was buggy and simple as hell but was the best thing I've ever done until then. From there I started learning PHP and doing a few other projects, always looking to learn more and improve in my craft. In all these years I have grown a lot as a Software Engineer and as a person. I've met a lot of great people that I love working with. I tutored coworkers and got tutored on countless occasions and I still have fun doing my work and building things. I focus my work on making software as simple as it can be. Paying special attention to making the code readable and with as much context as necessary for anyone to pick up from where I left it. I'm a big believer in teamwork. The success is shared and failure is on me. And try to elevate my team. I like working with teams that are open about failure and use it as a tool to grow instead of blaming. I prefer direct feedback and people that have a lot of empathy. I enjoy teaching and I love having mentors. I look for companies that believe and empower their teams to take decisions and help move the company forward instead of just working from a backlog of tasks. I'm not a fanboy of any language or framework. I'm a firm believer in choosing the best tool for the job instead of choosing the one I like the most. Finally I'm not looking to relocate and I'm specially interested in full remote companies.
