About Igor Benav

I’m an AI and software engineer who loves building scalable, automated solutions that turn raw data into clear, actionable insights. I work mainly in Python (FastAPI, Django, Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, Docker) and use Fivetran, SQL, Snowflake, DBT, and Metabase for analytics and warehousing. Over the years, I’ve built data pipelines ingesting billions of records, orchestrated async workflows with Celery and SQS, and slashed time-to-insight from weeks to minutes. I’m also an open source guy: I created and maintain FastCRUD (120k+ PyPI downloads, nearly 1k GitHub stars), which simplifies FastAPI apps with async SQLAlchemy 2.0. I’ve dived into large language models (LLMs) using tools like Hugging Face Transformers and PydanticAI to build robust, type-safe AI applications (also built an LLM Framework myself). My dashboards and BI reports in Power BI and Metabase have served over 100 daily users, and I’ve handled concurrency, parallel processing, and containerization with Git and CI/CD to keep everything running smoothly. Outside of engineering, I enjoy teaching Python and MVP development, tackling new side projects, playing guitar, and DMing D&D campaigns.
