About Igor Mihailov

I am a multi-skilled and adaptable Mechanical Test Engineer with strong hands-on experience in the aerospace industry. I began my career in 2018 on the shop floor as an Assembly Technician, manufacturing parts for major aerospace projects such as Leonardo and TAS, reading technical drawings, and working to tight specifications. In 2020, I progressed to my current role in mechanical testing at Avic Cabin Systems (UK), specialising in a wide range of tests: Long Beam Compression, Short Beam Shear, DMA TG, Creep, Insert Shear, Climbing Drum Peel, and more — working with Universal Test Machines including the Instron 5969 and Lloyd EZ50. I am officially trained as a Test Witness, trusted to deliver qualification programmes to strict industry standards (ASTM D7249, C393, D1781, etc.). I also train junior staff, maintain and set up rigs and fixtures, analyse failure modes, and manage test plans, batch registers, and First Pass Yield data. I’m known for my proactive approach — able to run a mechanical laboratory independently, collaborate with cross-functional teams, conduct line walks, and liaise with external customers and suppliers. I take pride in upholding the highest standards of health & safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
