Product Engineer | Project Management | Systems Designer | Photonics Packaging I have over 13 years of work experience with stabilized diode lasers. I researched and developed custom laser systems for system integrators and end users from concept design and prototyping to production deployment and lifetime support. My experience and accomplishments include: Extensive hands-on experience with working in a cleanroom environment, working on laser assembly, micro-optics, fiber-coupling, etc. Product design in SolidWorks. Photonics packaging, custom packaging designs, supporting components design, and complete system design. Developed dual laser systems for concatenation enhanced Raman spectroscopy. Developed a way to package two optically and thermally stabilized diode lasers into a single butterfly package, for handheld applications. Developed Homogenized laser package for Raman spectroscopy which eliminates “hot spots” and prevents sample burning when used with high power multimode lasers. Developed a high stability / high power “combined system” with up to seven multimode laser modules, fiber-combined into a 330um core fiber. Development of MOPA systems. From seed-TA coupling to electronics control design and integration. Development of 405 / 450 nm stabilized systems. Worked with a curved chip design for an independent researcher, fiber-coupling samples, and collecting data for process evaluation. Designed custom solutions when off-the-shelf parts are not available. For example: Development of a dichroic beam combiner assembly for one of the concatenation systems. Developed a prototype long range UV / VIS illuminator laser system for a government agency. Worked on an 1500nm range optical vibrometer, intended to pick up vibrations induced by sound. Worked on a project to develop a terahertz system for an international customer. Developed various stations for production and testing, including but not limited to: optical component assembly, fiber-coupling, TEC install, testing, burn-in / lifetime testing, and final testing of a laser systems. Worked closely with technicians during development of a new product, from training to process optimization for speed and ease of assembly. Developed an entirely new way to align a laser in one of the products the company sells. What used to take 3 hours per unit ended up taking half an hour. It also allows for easy scalability, because my solution does not require complicated assembly equipment. Troubleshot and fixed critical equipment in production to mitigate lengthy downtime.
