About Ilan Lewin

With a passion for integrating diverse realms of scientific and technological knowledge, I stand at the intersection of soil sciences and agronomy, sensor-fusion, robotics and AI. As the founder of Aardvark Sensing, operating under the auspices of the European Space Agency, I spearhead a visionary journey in robotic soil sensing, envisioning a future where technology revolutionizes our understanding and management of soil ecosystems. Drawing upon 25 years of extensive hands-on experience, I have honed my skills across an extremely broad spectrum of technologies, including signal-processing and radio-technology, FPGA design, embedded-programming and software, IoT and cloud computing. My academic background in physics and mathematics underpins my continuous quest for deep knowledge in diverse sensing technologies, including X-ray and optical spectroscopy, ground-penetrating radar, Neutron counting and electromagnetic induction. I leverage my in-depth knowledge to fuse different sensing technologies together to create new synergy in sensing. Driven by a commitment to scientific advancement and environmental stewardship, I am dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the realm of soil sensing.
