About Ilana Horowitz

I am a registered massage therapist and provider of contemporary medical acupuncture (also known as neurofunctional acupuncture) and Fascial Stretch Therapy. I am also an instructor at Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy. I have a degree in landscape architecture and 10 years of experience in the public sector and 7 years in the private sector. My professional focus was on transit-oriented development and transit stations, the public realm, active transportation, and design excellence and review. I excel at managing a wide range of large, complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-stakeholder projects. These include, but are not limited to, transit station planning and design; neighbourhood and campus master planning; design guidelines, policy, and research; organizational change management; and major events. I have over 3 years of management experience and expertise leading collaborative teams of professional staff.I was a visiting critic and lecturer to planning and design schools at a number of Canadian universities, regularly presented at professional events, and taught the Planning Studio 1 Course at Toronto Metropolitan University. I was a member of the Metrolinx Design Review Panel, Ontario Professional Planners Institute, the Council of Canadian Urbanism, the Ontario Municipal Urban Designers Roundtable, the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals, the Toronto Society of Architects, the Toronto Centre for Active Transportation Steering Committee, and the Canadian LEED for Neighbourhood Development Core Committee.
