About Ilana Zigelman

With over fifteen years of experience as an educator, I am committed to creating inclusive and engaging learning environments that foster student success and well-being. I specialize in Universal Design for Learning (UDL), a framework that supports the diverse needs and preferences of all learners, and enables me to differentiate instruction, assessment, and curriculum according to the principles of accessibility, flexibility, and equity. I am also a doctoral student at Athabasca University, pursuing my EdD in Distance Education, a field that aligns with my passion for special education, learner experience, and pedagogy. My research interests are in how UDL can enhance online learning for students with disabilities, a topic that is relevant and timely in the context of the pandemic and the shift to remote education. In addition, I have a MEd in Digital Technology from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, and multiple diplomas in education, business, and law enforcement. I am fluent in Hebrew and English, and have experience as a professor intern and a special education teacher. My goal is to contribute to the advancement of educational equity and innovation through teaching, research, and leadership.
