About Ilayda Tuccaroglu

Hi, my name is Ilayda. After my bachelor's degree in Sociology at the University of Southampton (July 2021), I have recently completed a master's in Sociology at the University of Amsterdam (July 2022). If you haven't already understood, I am passionate about the social world. I grew up in Cyprus, with a passion for social research and social policy on topics, such as migration, gender, and inequalities individuals are affected by in society. Experienced in social research (quantitative & qualitative) and admin work. I currently am the founding president of the Federation of Turkish Cypriot Students in the European Union, which is a politically independent organisation, representing the interest of Turkish Cypriot students across Europe. Before, I was the Education Secretary of the Federation of Turkish Cypriot Students in the United Kingdom, where I was primarily responsible for supporting the formal and informal education of students through initiating education workshops, academic mentorship programs, podcast series aimed to assist high-schoolers in deciding on their careers, and had a lead role in a research project on the perspectives of students on the government bursaries. I have also played a role in establishing the first registered platform in Northern Cyprus; the Bursaries Platform, after the research report was presented to the Education Ministry. Lastly, I had 12 Turkish articles successfully pass peer review phases on an online writing platform called Tabella.
