About Ilenia Gori

I am an MD specialised in Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry at the Meyer Children’s Hospital. I carried out my professional traineeship receiving specific training in diagnosis, evaluation and intervention in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) in different ASD High Specialised international, Units, from IRCCS - Fondazione Stella Maris in Italy to the Mútua Terrassa Hospital in Spain. I am also a psychotherapist focused on the treatment of children, adolescents and their families, with a psychodynamic and psychoanalytic orientation, having training and practiced in perinatal psychiatry. I completed training in the Sandplay Therapy technique through the A.I.S.P.T School of Psychotherapy (Sandplay Therapy- Rome). I am certified as a practitioner in MBT-C (Mentalization Based Treatment for Children), a therapy in which she is training as a supervisor, as well as being certified in MBT for Families and Adolescents (MBT-F and MBT-A) by the Anna Freud Institute, Londres. I am currently PhD candidate at the Ramón Lull Barcelona University, and postgraduate fellow at Yale Child Study Center, focusing my research in the application of modified MBT-C technique in child in the Autistic Spectrum and their family and its theoretical and neurobiological underpinnings for the generalisation of dyadic social learning. Currently I am working with Dr. Malberg and the at MBT-C Modified for Children and Adolescents in the Autistic Spectrum and their families, as a trainer, and moving on to writing papers that will specify the theoretical and neurobiological framework in MBT-C & Autism from a new perspective of a dimensional approach. I collaborated as an author for a book chapter in her field of research and as a child and adolescent psychiatry expert (consultant and co-editor in SC-Axis 4-12 y.o.) in the 2022-23 Task Force-PDM3 Working Group (Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual), focusing my expertise in the ASD chapter, among others. I have also worked as a trainer and team supervisor for professionals in the private sector and university spheres, both in Italy and Spain. I participate in national and international scientific and academic activities, with her own publications and presentations. I worked in public and private units, in different positions, and as a lead of a specific multidisciplinary and intensive Autistic treatment program in the context of Public health in Barcelona. Currently I am working in the private practice ( Imagina Centro de aplicación de la mentalization) as well in the Public Health system.
