Background

About Ilham Zarguan

My academic background started after obtaining my baccalaureate in the science of life and earth. Afterwards, my path led me to the Sciences and Technologies Faculty of Fes where I have obtained my bachelor’s degree in the field of applied biological sciences and health. It was this period that made me discover my passion for understanding the most complex mechanisms of our body, and also, helped me acquire a solid knowledge in human biology and health, which I developed and established during an end of study project with the main goal is to facilize cancer's early diagnosis. The next thing I found myself running onto was towards the faculty of medicine and pharmacy of Rabat, where I earned a master's degree in medical biotechnology. This program has been extremely enriching along with a 6months research internship where I could explore my academic knowledge in Wet and Dry lab approaches where I have been able to study, in a molecular and a bioinformatic scale, germline mutations in some exons in BRCA1 and BRCA2. This path has only increased my thirst for the research field and especially in the development of new therapies and diagnosis methods for life-threatening diseases such as cancer. So here I am, currently in my PhD studies at the International University of Rabat, trying to look for a way to win the war against cancer.
