About Ilkka Korpi

I am motivated, experienced and capable embedded system / firmware programmer with long track record of solving hard business critical problems in the service of telecommunications industry. I am looking for opportunity to leverage my wireless system skills and my passion for constrained processor platforms. Background: I wrote my first lines of BASIC code with Sinclair ZX Spectrum "home computer" in early 80's when I was a kid. And especially thanks to Commodore Amiga, I already had strong background in assembler and C programming at early age. At university I studied physics, mathematics, telecommunications theory and software & electrical engineering. Having had the privilege to work with some of the brightest minds and pioneers of 3G, 3.5G and 4G has given unique opportunity to see how the modem is designed, implemented, tested and finally used in a real-world product by real people. Relevant work experience: I joined Nokia Mobile phones in 1998 and participated e.g. in development of 3G WCDMA test mobile, the first commercial 3G capable phones, phones with support for 3G features like HSDPA and HSUPA and development of 3G TD-SCDMA capable modems and finally development of 4G LTE modems. Roles include e.g. feature lead developer, witness in patent wars, M.Sc. Thesis supervisor etc. My primary expertise area is 3GPP Physical Layer software.
