About Ilya Rake

Is there a silver lining to the pandemic? Perhaps I have found a tiny one. During lockdown, I launched a digital media company in Philadelphia. Our work included industrials, commercials and training videos. In my role as founding partner, I prospected new clients, wrote scripts, produced, hired crew members, and handled post-production. Producing on the East Coast was my catalyst to head to the West Coast, where I now live in LA. I am a skilled and adaptable production professional who is as comfortable in a production office as I am on a set or in the field. Two recent examples shed some light on my versatility in a production setting: • As Producer for B’Mor Productions, a one-woman comedy sketch series shot in 2022, not only did I scout locations and develop the production schedule, I was also responsible for creating the budget, negotiating with vendors and hiring below the line crew. While the Director focused on content, I was responsible for ensuring all productions were staying on schedule, had ample crew (for whom I managed Covid compliance) and that those crew members were provided crafty services. Because the budget was tight, catering negotiations were also part of my responsibilities – an easy enough task until the director decided everyone should eat a seafood boil! Somehow, I pulled that off too within budget. • As Assistant to the Producer at music video company Fallout Productions, I was responsible for scheduling meetings, arranging travel, expense tracking, answering phones and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of the office. This spring, I assisted in the preproduction planning for a music video for Carlos Santana. I loved what I was doing, the bustle of the office, and I would relish the opportunity to apply this skill set to my next position.
