About Imad Khaled

I am the Director of Engineering and Construction Services with Apex Utilities responsible for the overall Engineering and Construction activities for the natural gas utility. I also lead the Energy Innovation team responsible for the strategy and execution of innovative solutions to decarbonize the delivered energy and to work towards a carbon neutral future. Previously had 10 years of experience in the energy world with roles ranging from managing various engineering groups overlooking materials engineering and different asset classes (Facilities, Compressors, Salt Caverns, etc.). Other roles involved operations audit which included auditing the operations of various local and international businesses. Other roles included innovation, mostly implementing new technologies to advance the industry, reducing GHG emissions, and increasing operational efficiencies. Previous roles also included project management for large scale jobs, operations, technical design on pipeline systems, and designing regulating and metering stations. I studied Mechanical Engineering and obtained a Bachelor of Engineering from the American University of Beirut and a Master of Science degree from the University of Alberta. During my tenure at the University of Alberta, I published a thesis about microelectrode arrays and obtained a patent for the design and development of flexible microelectrode array that can be used for biomedical applications.
