About Iman Traore

I am a current Masters of Public Health student at Oakland University working as a Program Associate at Black Mothers’ Breastfeeding Association (BMBFA). I hold a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a minor in Psychology from Wayne State University. While at Wayne State University, I had the opportunity of interning for the WSU Suicide Prevention Initiative where I became certified in Mental Health First AID USA, served as a member of various executive boards, and was the recipient of the Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Pageant. After undergrad, I went on to work as an Applied Behavior Analyst for Easterseals Michigan where I worked with children and Board Certified Behavior Analysts to develop and update intervention plans. I contribute my administrative skills to my previous role as a Basic Needs and Housing Case Manager for Freedom House Detroit. My passion for public health stems from my drive to improve the health of marginalized communities through support and education as well as looking at the world from a fact-based point of view.
