About Imogen Howe

I help organisations to create equitable built environments, that challenge the status quo and advance diversity and inclusion with a focus on disability. I am committed to the creation of buildings and cities that go beyond statutory requirements for accessible, inclusive design to create places where all people feel they belong. As an architect, urban designer and researcher, I advise my clients in developing brief and design guidelines that can realise their ambitions for inclusion in their spaces. I also work through the design and procurement phases of projects to provide insights during concept development, design reviews, value management and procurement phases. I have worked in strategic master planning, site and regional analysis, benchmarking and visioning for built environments across a variety of sectors, with users ranging from social enterprises, small private-sector developers to district visioning for government stakeholders. In addition to my design practice, I am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne focussing on Disability Inclusive Workplace Design. I'm researching how people with disability experience their workplace so I can understand how to improve disability inclusion in the design process.
