About Imogen Martin

I have attained my Bachelor's LLB Law and Politics Degree (Qualifying Law Degree), to which I was awarded a Second Class Honours, Division One (2:1). During my third year of studying, I was the charity and fundraising officer and a co-founding member of the Women In Law Society at Cardiff University. I also completed a range of work experience during my studies. For almost two years, I have been working with the ‘ND Lawyer Project’ - an up & coming charity, which I will be a trustee for once registration is complete. We seek to achieve complete neurodiversity, with a specific focus on helping neurodivergent individuals wishing to enter legal education or professions. I am currently the Managing Director of the ND Lawyer Project. I have worked for a Member of Welsh Parliament as a ‘researcher’ and general office assistant. My role consisted of various tasks, such as: corresponding with constituents to assist with queries and issues, deciding on resolutions to handle casework and actioning this. I have also been responsible for organising events, such as the Member’s first job fair, which was a great success (over 300 people attended!) and I have also attended events and networked on behalf of the Member, I was also responsible for maintaining key relationships with local businesses, councillors, ministers and other important relations to assist the Member in their role. I also completed extensive research projects, providing key information on a range of topics and policy areas, with a specific focus on education. Some other key tasks included - graphic creation for social media, transcribing videos of contributions, organising events and meetings, corresponding with key stakeholders, acting as first point of contact, organising a busy diary, visiting events on behalf of the member. I have also stood as the Welsh Conservative Party candidate for the Penmaen By-Election on 31.08.23, as the first Welsh Conservative since 2017; gaining just under 10% of the vote in a traditional Labour-stronghold ward. In October 2023, I was elected Deputy Chair (Political) for the new Welsh Conservatives Newport & Islwyn Federation. Within this voluntary role, I will produce action plans for campaigning across the region, assist parliamentary candidates and councillors with their campaigns, organise key activities, research the best areas for action, create regular newsletters and updates to keep members informed, seek new ways to recruit more members; and more!
