I am an enthusiastic, 55 year old and I believe my work and life experiences would make me a great fit for your company/organization. I have always been passionate about education and enjoy learning everyday from the teachers I work with as well as my students. In February, I was asked to lead our inaugural chapter of My Sister’s Keeper, an organization devoted to empowering and engaging girls and young women consisting of 4th and 5th graders. My Sister’s Keeper connects me to a wider range of students as they are older than the ones I currently teach, additionally, I enjoy the personal connection that comes from the girls seeing someone that looks like them as a mentor. Before working at PS 45, as a stay at home mom, I enjoyed a high level of parent involvement. I was often selected as class mom and asked to participate in programs that partnered parents with teachers to benefit the students in a meaningful way. I believe my experiences as a parent of children in public school and as an employee in public school offer a unique perspective on how education is viewed and valued by educators and parents. At SLRHC, the staff in the Government and Community Affairs department was diverse politically and racially. I believe this was a healthy mix that inspired us all to perform at our highest level, listening to all opinions and collaborating as a cohesive team.
