About Indira Durakovic

Traveling. Who doesn't love to be a traveler? A tourist? An Explorer or wanderer? I definitely always did. I always had an interest in meeting new people in new places and doing new things. It always made sense for me to study Tourism and delve into this industry. I studied tourism for eight years, had incredible experiences working in the Netherlands, England, and South Africa. During my studies, an affinity developed for Events Organization and Management. I was an Events Assistant in my third year of Tourism Management. My role was assisting a class of first-year students in their Event Organization and execution for a real (internal) client. The experience taught me how to assist, manage and lead several teams. Furthermore, my internships were mostly in hospitality; working in 4* and 5* establishments within London, and South Africa, mostly in Front Office. I can add with confidence that I ensured that every single interaction with a guest was excellent. Representing the face of the company, it was my duty to ensure their experience staying with us was nothing but excellent. This includes providing a service and care like no other. Nothing was too big of a request. When I moved to South Africa in 2018, I embarked on a completely different journey: living off-grid within an eco-community in the Eastern Cape. This includes building my own home out of wattle and daub, growing a food forest and gardens based on permaculture principles, and so much more. During this time, however, I worked as a Restaurant Manager at a 5* beach lodge in the Eastern Cape for almost a year. While the majority of my time was spent in the restaurant, my role was an all-around position. Sometimes I was requested to welcome guests and settle them comfortably in their suite. I assisted in organizing weddings, including the set-up and execution. My love for traveling and working within the tourism industry has brought me back to Europe, but the travel bug within me is seeking to work anywhere in the world. To explore, to meet new people, and to provide guests the greatest experience I can offer on their travels.
