I like to work smart. And by smart I mean well aligned. If you are buying from China, I want to make sure that the factories you are working with are well aligned with who you are and what you want. But ​​first things first - I love China, and all that comes with it. I love the Chinese language, and it brings me joy being able to use it in my work. I adore Chinese culture, in particular the history of Buddhism - it is a topic I will never know enough about. And I can’t live without tea, be it green, red or white. It also happens that I really enjoy sourcing great products from China - working with Chinese suppliers, meeting factory bosses, delegating to sourcing agents, handling quality inspectors … the list goes on. I went from an academic career as a lecturer in East Asian Buddhism to business via running a small Asian culture centre. The thread that ties it all together is the focus on Asia, and China in particular. The skills I've developed along the way help me in working with people from different cultures and backgrounds, whether it is suppliers in China or e-commerce entrepreneurs in North America and Europe. My accumulated knowledge enables me to see things in perspective. And it turns out that a lot of practice working with people, well, makes you good at working with people. I look forward to growing and expanding as a person and as a professional, focusing on China specifically and East Asia in general. I believe the key to success is staying aligned with your focus, whatever it may be.
