Areas of interest within teaching and research in sustainable architecture: Basically, the sustainable aspect of architecture is seen as a demand for a higher quality in the built environment. Architectural quality is created based on the following points of view-The filter of the experienced - the aesthetic aspect -The social filter, understood as the improved integration among people-The technological filter which includes materials, energy, resources, construction, production, logistics etc. These activities can be divided into the following three main aspects: the first is concerned with the development of new methods for teaching in the area of architecture and sustainability; the two other aspects briefly describe currently related themes of research. a. As part of our teaching activities we explore new didactic methods for achieving a more sustainable architecture, a greater sensitivity towards sustainable choices in the design process as well as an understanding of integrated form generation. b. As part of our research we investigate the potential for a new and more sustainable architecture - new building projects c. Furthermore, the exploration of new ideas and best practice with regard to a sustainable transformation of the existing building stock is an area of priority.
