About Ingrid Azzopardi

Ingrid Azzopardi, a Certified Public Accountant and Auditor, is Head Internal Audit at Tumas Group. In her role she is responsible for audits in the hospitality, gaming and real estate industries. She has over thirty four years experience leading an internal audit function. Her expertise include fraud prevention, detection and investigation as well as risk management. Ingrid Azzopardi held various positions throughout her career with the GO Group as Group Internal Auditor. These included responsibility for the Security Function, Business Continuity Planning, Enterprise Wide Risk Management as well as GO Green, where she was instrumental in attaining the Science Based Targets for GO plc. She is a Chartered Director and currently sits as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of Bank of Valletta. Prior to this she was as an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of HSBC Bank Malta plc, where she also chaired the Audit Committee as well as the Risk Committee of the Bank. In the past she has held Board positions at the Housing Authority, the Teatru Manoel, the Mediterranean Conference Centre and HSBC Life Assurance (Malta) Limited. At the latter Company she also chaired the Audit and Risk Committee. She is a founding member as well as a past chair of the Malta Forum for Internal Auditors, now IIA Malta Chapter. She is a former Council Member of the Malta Association of Risk Management. She is a Fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants as well as of the UK Institute of Directors. Over the past five years Ingrid has been involved in the area of sustainability. She is currently the Deputy Chair on the Board of Administrators of the Malta ESG Alliance (MESGA). On an international level Ingrid Azzopardi is a past member on the Executive Committee of the Forum for the Irregular International Network Access (FIINA) where she chaired the Interconnect Committee of this Forum. She has participated in a number of conferences both locally and abroad and presented a number of papers on audit, revenue assurance and telecommunications fraud at International Fora held in Europe, the USA and China.
