About Ingrid McLaughlin

Work experience in the past centres around child care and their development within the areas of nursery schools and private homes. I participated in the Au-pair in America program, developed initially by the US immigration. I have mainly lived in the UK and Ireland with some years spent in the USA. I took time out of paid work to be with my children, whilst doing this I studied through The Open University to achieve a Diploma and a Degree. I have also studied courses such as the ECDL and NVR program, SNA level 6 I spent a brief time (6 months) working in the pricing dept at B&Q. This involved supervising 2 people, office and computer work, and stock-taking. As a self-learner, I studied music theory and beginner's piano, which enabled me to teach my own children music theory. Home schooled my youngest for the last few months of his primary school years. In September 2013, I began studying at the University of Limerick (UL) to complete an MA in TESOL. It has been insightful, fun and a worthwhile experience. I have since worked in language schools teaching EFL, levels from elementary to advanced. In 2015 I worked as a tutor in the Dept of Sociology, UL, tutoring Sociology of Health and Illness. I did the occasional lecture to cover the lecturer who was absent. I have taught English on a one-to-one basis. Following from tutoring in UL, I taught for ULLC, Griffith college and Limerick International Study Centre. The supply teaching led to the position of Assistant Director of Studies. After two months I became the Academic manager / Director of Studies for 10 months after which I returned to teaching fully for ULLC and Griffith College. I have previously tutored care skills with BTEI and social studies/ childcare at LCFE At present, I teach ESOL and Childcare with LCETB in Ennis (CORE Skills and VESD).
