About Ingrid Nelson-Stefl

Since January 1983, I have been providing out-patient mental health therapy primarily with children, adolescents, and adults, except for three years (1991-1994) working at an out-pt. setting with first-time-offender and adjudicated adolescents and their parents. My experience also includes co-facilitating a series of parenting education classes, running alcohol education groups, being the Sponsor of a Parents' Anonymous Group, being a Field Instructor for graduate social work students, and currently being a clinical supervisor. Specialties: I have experience and specialized knowledge in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders (including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder); child and adolescent behavior problems; neurotic and personality issues of the individual, couple, and family; substance abuse disorders; co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders; and Adjustment Disorders. Continuing education and professional growth are important to me and include motivational interviewing and psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
