About Ingrid Olvera

As the Volunteer and Intern Coordinator at CHIRLA, I lead efforts to connect passionate individuals with meaningful opportunities that support immigrant rights and community empowerment. Working within the Administration and HR department, I oversee the full cycle of volunteer and intern engagement—from recruitment and onboarding to training, supervision, and professional development. My work is rooted in relationship-building and program development. I manage a centralized database to track and evaluate activities, facilitate ongoing support and mentorship, and ensure all participants are well-equipped to serve vulnerable populations with care and integrity. I collaborate closely with staff to identify departmental needs and design volunteer and intern roles that make a real impact. With a strong focus on equity, inclusion, and service, I strive to create spaces where volunteers, interns, and mentors can grow, contribute their strengths, and feel valued as part of the movement for social justice. Growing up in Los Angeles, I have been exposed too many cultures and backgrounds. I enjoy meeting new people and am able to quickly adapt and learn. I believe keeping an open mind leads to greater opportunities and unveils endless possibilities. I enjoy problem solving and work well in groups. I am a detail oriented person and tend to keep my goals and tasks organized to maintain productivity.
