With a proven track record in public relations (PR) management, communication management, sustainability management and reporting, business development, corporate strategies management, and ICT in strategic management—Innocent Salima is a rounded and versatile communication professional. He brings 6 years of experience in top-level and mid-level strategic communications and public relations (PR) management from some of the best-performing international non-governmental organisations, and companies. His analytical system thinking, innovative-generative thinking, teamwork mindset and organisation efficiency tools savvy enabled him to work for international non-governmental organisations even during his first-degree studies at the Polytechnic College, University of Malawi. The 28-year-old corporate communication expert has worked as a consultant in the banking sector, offering top-notch strategic approaches to internal communication management. He has also worked with creative agencies providing him with a unique combination of hands-on experience and strategic management thinking. Innocent worked with ADRA Malawi under the KULIMA BETTER EU Project, Self Help Africa and he is currently a communications and IT lead at Water For People, one of the big United States of America (USA) privately funded international Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene,(WASH) organisation. The position makes him an integral part of organisation strategy implementation. He works closely with the country director, director of influence and scale, senior sustainability manager, and the USA-based fundraising and communication team. Innocent also acted as senior sustainability manager in 2024. Salima has been simultaneously managing the communications and PR strategy of the Chiradzulu WASH for Everyone Project, one of the largest district-wide universal WASH projects in Malawi which was being implemented by World Vision Malawi and Water For People Malawi. Salima also worked with First Capital Bank as a consultant in the rolling of the internal communication systems. Innocent Salima is currently working on his thesis for the Executive Master in Business Administration (MBA) offered by the prestigious Diplomat Business School of Eastern Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI). He is a top-performing student despite being the youngest in the intake among different executives.
