About Ioan Bejan

Professional with over 20 years of experience in the real estate policy and financing, with focus on housing mortgage and energy efficiency financing. In the past years, Ioan has paid special attention on how the EU sustainability regulatory framework and relevant international standards impact businesses and the overall economy, especially within the construction and real estate sectors. As Sustainability Director since June 2022 of Genesis Property S.A. – one of the most important owners, developers and operators of class A office buildings in Romania – Ioan is coordinating the evolving transition toward a sustainable business model, that includes both the ESG integration within company’ strategy and operational processes, as well as its climate transition plan development, with the overall aim to create both business value and sustainable impact. From its’ founding in 2011, Ioan Bejan also holds the position of Secretary General of the Romanian Association of Building Owners (RABO), an affiliate of the European Property Federation (EPF), the Europe’s leading organization of owners, investors and developers of real estate assets, with a total value of over 1,500 billion euro. For over a decade Ioan Bejan has served as Senior Associate and Country Manager for GreenMax Capital Advisors, leading the development and expansion strategy, as well as facilitating access to financial institutions active in the region, for customers in search for clean energy project financing. Previously, Ioan Bejan has developed finance and policy structures in Romania for both private sector (Raiffeisen Banca pentru Locuinte) as well as the public sector (the Romanian Government), getting thus a strong grasp of public policy agenda. Throughout the career, Ioan has contributed as author or co-author of numerous research and consultancy works for the E.B.R.D, European Commission, the World Bank, U.S.T.D.A. and the Romanian Government, most of them primarily focused on developing the Romanian housing policy and energy efficiency investments. To date, Ioan has been appointed as board member of numerous public and private entities from various fields of activities. Most recently, Ioan has successfully completed the courses “Climate Ambition Accelerator” (June – October 2022) and “S.D.G. Ambition Accelerator (October 2022 – May 2023) within the UN Global Compact Academy, thus becoming an enthusiastic promoter of the Sustainable Development Goals and sustainable investments.
