About Ioannis G. Lempesis

As a member of the Medical Chronobiology Program at Brigham and Women's Hospital, I conduct human research in the fields of Integrative Human Metabolism, Chronobiology, and Chrononutrition. My expertise spans various aspects of metabolic and endocrine disorders, internal medicine, human pathophysiology, nutrition and biochemistry, with a particular focus on understanding and integrating human metabolism, from molecular mechanisms to behavior. My goal is to advance pathophysiological understanding, prevention, and treatment strategies for obesity, diabetes, and, their cardiometabolic complications. I hold a joint PhD in translational human adipose tissue biology and obesity from the University of Birmingham (IMSR, UK) and Maastricht University (Department of Human Biology, NL), with a PhD thesis titled "Body fat distribution and obesity: a comparison of upper and lower body adipose tissue biology in humans".
