About Irene Bern

I was recently issued my NYS Level 3 Teaching Assistant certification. I am working as a teaching assistant, but also would love to be more involved in schools. I’d love to help with theater, sports, and anything else I can be involved in. For me, this path is about making every child feel present so they can focus on learning. Children should always feel safe and have a sense of inclusion in school. They should have the confidence to be themselves and feel accepted. I’ve been told a strength of mine is the ability to put myself in another person’s position in order to visualize his or her perspective and understand what he or she may be feeling, so I want to be a person they can trust if they need someone to talk to. My middle school experience was full of bullying and isolation. My goal is to make every child feel like they matter and believe in themselves so they will succeed. On a more personal note. I'm attracted to anything that requires creativity. Filming, editing, photography and designing in Photoshop. I really enjoy spending quality time with my niece and nephew who are the center of my universe and have inspired me to pick up portrait photography as a hobby. It’s something that has always been close to my heart and I’m positive I inherited this passion from my late aunt whose famous line was “one more picture” as she took ten more. When I’m not creating or playing with my nieces & nephew, you can catch me watching every Yankee game on air, Hallmark channel movies, rerun shows (Gilmore Girls is my favorite), and current series that push boundaries and/or raise awareness on important issues such as Grown-ish & Good Trouble.
