About Irene Eubanks

I was born and raised in Sasebo, Japan and traveled to Oklahoma after completing my high school education at Ernest J. King Highschool. I moved to the United States of America to pursue my Bachelors Degree in Entomology at Oklahoma State University which led me to my passion in the world of arthropods and their impact on public health, environment, and people globally. In my spare time, I enjoy practicing insect observations via sketching and whenever possible, learning a new skill that piques my growing interests.Currently, I work at Rentokil Terminix Innovation Center in Dallas, Texas as an Entomologist Laboratory Technician and heavily enjoy assisting the current RTX Innovation team with new projects. My favorite part of my job is being able to take care of insects for both outreach and bioassay purposes.During my undergraduate degree, I was an RA where I mentored mainly first year college students coming into college, assisted them in navigating the campus, and essentially, being their unofficial older sister. In this job, I learned I love helping and coaching people and seeing them flourish in a way they didn't think they would be able to.As for my undergraduate research, I worked as a Tick Lab Technician in Oklahoma State University Department of Entomology & Plant Pathology. During that time, I aided in the collection and testing of DNA samples of tick species within Oklahoma for Borrelia burgdorferi.I loved learning about the process of DNA testing via PCR and I hope to utilize this learned skill later in the future.
