About Irene Paterson

An experienced Actuary who has held senior positions in both Insurance and Pension Consulting. In 2010, Irene joined the newly formed Star Actuarial Futures, who have grown significantly into one of the best known actuarial recruitment and career management companies in UK, consistently being voted Recruiter of the Year by readers of Actuarial Post Magazine. Before joining STAR, Irene was a European Partner and Consulting Actuary in Mercer, consulting with a number of well-known clients across UK. She was also a member of Mercer's Professional Standards Committee and led a review of Mercer’s UK and European Offices in relation to delivery of actuarial advice. The success of this project was shared with counterparts in USA and Asia Pacific. Earlier in her career she was a Senior Manager within Scottish Widows and a Director of Scottish Widows Trustees Limited. She has also sat on Council, Boards and Committees of the UK Actuarial Profession and was a member of Pension Committees of both the International Actuarial Associations (IAA) and the European Actuarial Association (EAA), leading one of their task forces. She is also a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Actuaries.
