About Iris Benedikt
I am a Toronto based artist-educator and completed my B.ed. in community arts education at Queen's University with I/S teachables in visual arts and geography and additional qualifications in intermediate drama and senior social sciences at OISE. I also have additional qualifications in Teaching LGBTQIA2S+ Students and First Nations, Inuit and Métis studies for teachers with Queens University. I am interested in community building, and contributing to the vitality and resilience of sustainable cities, centring creativity, social justice and decolonization practices in all that I do. As an educator I focus on student choice, voice and experiential explorative learning while considering the intersectional experiences and identities of my learners and the broader communities they are part of. Currently I am the co-Lead Educator with Shoresh Jewish Environmental Programs and I am also working as an Occasional Teacher for the TDSB in the secondary division.
