About Iris Ching

Imagine the CN Tower. Tallest building in Toronto. 144 floors. 1776 steps. Now imagine climbing it all in under 20 minutes. That’s my greatest accomplishment. A combination of factors and what makes me an ideal candidate has made this my greatest achievement. It started out with networking, and my personal belief that those fortunate enough should give back to the community. Then through my likeable and persistent personality I was able to exceed my fundraising goal. While raising money, I also prepared myself for the climb: understanding the problems/risks (i.e. cramps and exhausted thighs), giving myself milestones and goals (for the stair master), and persevering through the difficult times (continuing to push my body even though it was in pain). This is exactly how I handle every project given to me at work. When our team began the climb, they started pretty fast, basically running up the stairs. After a short while, I let them get ahead of me, telling them there was no way I could maintain that speed (with all the practice I had done) and would likely burn out quicker. Eventually I caught up with one of them. And the other climber could see me from several floors above. They were surprised. But by anticipating the climb, I knew what pace I could handle without taking breaks. In the end, through preparation, risk management, self-motivation, and perseverance I passed my other teammate as well and got the fastest time out of them!
