Iris Defino

Background

About Iris Defino

I recently graduated summa cum laude from Binghamton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Human Rights. I currently work in administrative legal support to gain experience across law practices, with the plan of attending law school in the future. I am also considering a joint JD/PhD degree concentrating on Western hegemonic structures and voting behavior, or a JD/MSW degree focused on informed defense practices for mental health and substance disorders. After law school, I plan to work in the public sector and practice civil rights, public defense, or housing law. I’m incredibly dedicated to the service of and advocacy for our communities—especially on issues of criminal justice reform, queer/BIPOC liberation, tenants’ rights, and voter equality. I am eager to see where my academic, professional, and activist pursuits take me. In my free time, I love running, playing the violin and saxophone, knitting, learning about airplanes/aviation history, and geeking out about musical theatre! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at irisdefino@gmail.com or send me a message via LinkedIn. I look forward to connecting with you!
