I am a Registered Nurse with 40 years’ experience in health care, working in England, South Africa and the East and West Coast of Australia. My career experience has enabled me to successfully combine my clinical, technical, academic, communication and critical thinking skills to address a broad range of circumstances and situations. My Quality & Education experience includes: Recent (March 2022) coordination of a successful Assessment against NSQHS Standards with all actions met and no recommendations. Establishment of a clearly defined Quality System and associated processes focussed on NSQHS Standards requirements. Leadership and active participation as Quality Manager in relevant hospital committees & forums. Development and implementation of hospital-wide education program in consultation with hospital executive and key stakeholders. Provision of leadership to hospital-wide team of educators. Extensive experience in the identification, implementation and evaluation of hospital-wide education opportunities for both clinical and non-clinical staff. Implementation & delivery of Human Factors Training for clinical staff with emphasis on Situation Awareness and Graded Assertiveness. Establishing and ongoing coordination of Resus 4 Kids short practical course. Effective co-ordination of undergraduate student clinical placements and graduate programs for RNs, ENs and AINs Ongoing management and reporting of hospital-wide e-learning program. Monitoring and reporting of hospital – wide mandatory competency compliance. Coordination of the successful hospital-wide implementation of an electronic incident / feedback monitoring system (RiskMan) Experience in the generation and interpretation of incident and feedback reports. Effective communication and organisational skills to enable close cooperation with hospital Departmental Heads, National Clinical Governance Unit and State Workplace Health & Safety Manager to ensure strategic aims met. Knowledge and experience of formal incident investigation e.g.Root Cause Analysis and London Protocol. I have also undertaken Patient Advocate Training.
