I was able to help approximately 27 - 33 people a day, with their Unemployment Insurance claim issues, in my job at EDD, which I did for the past 2 years of service for the State of California, during the Pandemic. This involved analyzing information from multiple sources, investigating and gathering additional facts, using deductive reasoning to understand the history of a UI claim and conclude if a claimant continues to be eligible for additional payments, and processing payment. I have an excellent ability to readily establish a strong sense of trust, rapport, and professionalism with customers, coworkers and supervisors. I am able to effectively relate to members of all ethnic and racial groups, utilizing my exceptional communication, listening and people skills in oral, written and presentation forms. My genuine caring to help people, along with my compassionate heart were the soft skills I used most frequently, as I had to help people going through very difficult times, by solving their UI claim problems, giving them some practical solutions and resources, and often a sense of hope, to persevere. Perhaps my most significant achievement of these past 2 years, is the dozens of people whose lives I improved, both because I could solve their problems and get them paid, and because I cared enough to listen, be extra kind, and offer solutions and encouragement.
