About Iris Saxer

I'm a natural problem solver and jack of all trades. With training as a wildlife biologist and a Master's in Education, I've put my skills to use leading wilderness expeditions all over the globe for 2 decades, training guides and leaders in wilderness first aid and rescue techniques, risk management, and leadership skills. I've enjoyed field biology work in dozens of austere locations from the Antarctic to the tropics and back up to the Arctic. More recently, I've been working as a self-trained bookkeeper for various non-profit and for-profit businesses in Teton Valley. I spent five years working as the Executive Director of Teton Valley Community Recycling, bringing that organization to a place of strong financial footing and community collaboration and engagement, before stepping laterally to a newly created "County Liaison" position where I could do more focused work with the county government and grant writing. I'm an avid volunteer in the schools and non-profit sector trying to make our community stronger and kinder. I've done everything from working in a bookstore to running a University outdoor program and a lot in between. I love dynamic work where I can jump in with both feet and make a difference.
