About Irma Verhoeven

My purpose lies in working towards a just, sustainable, peaceful and ethical society and planetary wellbeing. I work towards this vision by developing materials and models that create awareness of the effects of the Anthropocene and inspire people and communities to implement regenerative sustainable solutions based on circularity. Every day new solutions are offered to transform our current society into one that respects and cares for the community of life. Therefor I keep on studying innovations and implementations of techniques and climate change policies. Communication and education have always been key in my professional career. Some of the organizations I’ve worked with include World of Walas, Earth Charter International, Umista Cultural Centre, Helicon Opleidingen, Marine Mammal Park Dolfinarium Harderwijk and schools/colleges. I love working with a team to create great projects and products, building international networks, inspire people to learn more. For the Earth Charter Center at the University for Peace in Costa Rica I am working on (educational) programmes and the international EC community as well as creating new partnerships to work towards an even bigger community. Back in the Netherlands I got the opportunity to teach and coach again for Helicon Opleidingen Geldermalsen. For this organisation I also manage Education Innovations. Currently I work for Aeres in teaching and developing the curriculum for a new programme on sustainable development. For World of Walas, I had an advising role for projects concerning social economic and sustainable development. Projects in which neighbourhoods are revitalised to a dynamic and sustainable part of the city filled with activities, creativity and wellbeing. Skills: writing and editorship, cultural anthropology, creative economy and sustainable urbanisation, organisational skills, communication and educational skills,(educational) program and material development, leading a winning team, public speaking.
