About Irving Ramirez-Erosa

Dr. Ramirez-Erosa began his journey in higher education at the University of Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy & Biomedical Sciences in Glasgow, Scotland, UK, with a Graduate Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences followed by a Master of Science degree in Organic Chemistry and a Doctorate degree in Medical Pharmacology from the University of Saskatchewan (U of S) in Saskatoon, Canada. His post-graduate research evolved from studies of plant-pathogen interactions and phytoalexin metabolism to the study of secondary metabolites and their apoptosis-inducing effect on human cancer cell lines. Dr. Ramirez-Erosa worked as a Plant Metabolic Pathway Chemist and then as a Research Associate at the National Research Council Canada in Saskatoon. He also led the R&D group for the Canadian-based company Saponin, Inc. He has acted as Principal Investigator in projects where both in vitro and in vivo studies were employed for the development of targeted small molecule drugs in cancer and vaccines. He has lectured many classes in the College of Medicine of the U of S. Dr. Ramirez-Erosa worked for Destiny Bioscience (Edmonton, AB) as VP Natural Products and currently works for the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) as the Provincial Public Health Lead (Saskatchewan) supporting Covid-19 pandemic response (IPC/EPC). He is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
