About Isaac Tranter

With over 10 years of experience in clinical practice and public health, I am dedicated to improving healthcare access and providing effective, evidence-based care. My work spans health promotion, disease prevention, and optimising health systems, alongside a commitment to clinical excellence and compassionate patient care. As a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland, I enjoy teaching and mentoring medical students, while my research focuses on improving health systems, clinical consultation skills, health promotion, mental health, and vaccination. In my recent consultancy role with St John Ambulance Papua New Guinea, I led the development and design of a comprehensive staff health strategy. Through this initiative I implemented a primary care clinic for staff to access preventive care and chronic disease management. This is a major step forward, as the staff of St John have never had access to this form of primary care before. Additionally, I co-led the design and implementation of a mental health program where ambulance staff are trained to provide psychological first aid to their peers to help combat the significant burden of mental illness in PNG. Looking ahead, I am open to opportunities that offer a mix of clinical practice, consultancy, and academic research. I also welcome connections with professionals in the field and am interested in exploring potential PhD opportunities in the coming years.
