About Isabel B. Emanuel

I graduated in 2023 with my PhD in Plant Pathology from The Ohio State University where I worked in the Ornamental Diseases and Diagnostics Laboratory. My graduate research focused on understanding key biological pathways for an emerging fungal pathogen that causes latent fruit rot in winterberry (Ilex verticillata). I utilized the results this work to inform the creation of a sustainable and integrated disease management plan. Following graduation, I began a postdoctoral research position at the University of Delaware, where I am currently conducting research to understand how the use of cover crops can alter corn growth and yield potential. I am passionate about science communication and I seek out teaching opportunities both in the classroom and through agricultural extension programs. Moving forward, I hope to continue my career as a plant health advocate and maintain positions which allow me to utilize my passions for science communication and agricultural research discovery to educate students and growers and contribute to the plant health community through the development of sustainable disease management practices.
